Make Your Bed - 66 Days
66 days · Lifestyle
The keystone habit, run for the full 66-day habit-formation average.
Make your bed properly every morning for 66 days - the average time research says a behaviour takes to become automatic. It's deliberately small: the point isn't the bed, it's proving you can run a habit to full automation, then reusing the skill on bigger ones.
The rules
- Bed fully made before you leave the bedroom (or within 30 minutes of waking).
- Properly: pillows placed, cover straightened - hotel-ish, not perfect.
- Travelling counts wherever you wake up.
Tips from people who finished
- It takes 90 seconds. Time it once and the excuse dies forever.
- Notice the "first win" effect on the rest of the morning - that's the keystone doing its job.
- Around day 40 it stops feeling like a task. That's automaticity arriving on schedule.
Track it properly
The difference between "trying" this challenge and finishing it is usually a visible calendar. Create yours and you get:
- A 66-day calendar you tick off daily - with streaks and completion stats computed live.
- Achievement badges (day 1, 7-day streak, halfway, finisher…).
- A share link so a friend can watch and keep you honest - see the accountability playbook.
- A printable version for the fridge.
