Couch to 5K
63 days · Fitness
Nine weeks from the sofa to running 5 kilometres without stopping.
The most beloved beginner running program ever made: three runs a week for nine weeks, mixing walking and jogging intervals that get gradually longer. Mark your three run days each week and use rest days guilt-free - they're part of the plan.
The rules
- Run 3 days per week following the C25K intervals (walk/jog mixes).
- Never run two days in a row in the first month.
- Mark run days done; mark scheduled rest days done too - recovery is the program.
Tips from people who finished
- Go slower than feels right. If you can't talk while jogging, ease off.
- Repeat a week if it felt brutal; the program forgives repeats, not quitting.
- Book a real 5K event for week 10 - a date on a ticket finishes programs.
Track it properly
The difference between "trying" this challenge and finishing it is usually a visible calendar. Create yours and you get:
- A 63-day calendar you tick off daily - with streaks and completion stats computed live.
- Achievement badges (day 1, 7-day streak, halfway, finisher…).
- A share link so a friend can watch and keep you honest - see the accountability playbook.
- A printable version for the fridge.
