30 Days of Cold Showers
30 days · Health & Diet
End every shower cold for a month and build voluntary discomfort tolerance.
Thirty days of finishing (or taking) your shower cold. The physical benefits are debated; the psychological ones aren't - doing a hard thing first thing every morning changes how the rest of the day's hard things feel.
The rules
- Every shower ends with at least 30 seconds of fully cold water.
- Week 2 onwards: build to 60-90 seconds.
- Breathe slowly and deliberately - that's the actual skill being trained.
Tips from people who finished
- Exhale as you step in; the gasp reflex passes in ~15 seconds every time.
- Cold first thing beats cold at night (some people find evening cold disrupts sleep).
- Count breaths, not seconds - ten slow breaths is about a minute.
Track it properly
The difference between "trying" this challenge and finishing it is usually a visible calendar. Create yours and you get:
- A 30-day calendar you tick off daily - with streaks and completion stats computed live.
- Achievement badges (day 1, 7-day streak, halfway, finisher…).
- A share link so a friend can watch and keep you honest - see the accountability playbook.
- A printable version for the fridge.
